Bamboo shades can be heavy and one way to make them lighter to lift, is to make them as multiple shades on one head rail. Each shade has its own controls and cords, but up to 96" wide, they can come with one, common valance. Some patterns are available up to 120" wide for common valances, but this should be checked with us in advance.
When recommending multiple shades on one head rail, the following are important issues to discuss with the customer:
- There will be a 1/2" gap between individual shades, which can mean there will be a light gap. We need this gap to make sure the shades do not rub against each other as they are raised and lowered.
- Which side should the controls/cords be?
- For cord lock shades, each shade should have a cord cleat installed to the wall, so that the cords can safely be wrapped around it. For CCL shades, each shade should have a cord tensioner installed. So in measuring for 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 shades and deciding on control positions, it is important that the customer makes sure they have a suitable mounting surface for the cord cleats or the cord tensioners.
